Pest control in Isando for industry and logistics

Isando is warehouses, factories and distribution centres near the airport. Here's how we protect stock, pass audits and keep rodents, insects and pigeons out.

Pest control in Isando is almost entirely commercial: rodent monitoring around warehouses and factories, stored-product insects in grain, flour and packaged goods, cockroaches in canteens, pigeons on roofs and loading bays, and flies at refuse areas. Combat Pest Control serves Isando from Johannesburg with scheduled contracts, written service records and treatments planned around your operation.

An industrial node by the airport

Isando is one of the East Rand's main industrial areas, part of Kempton Park and close to OR Tambo International Airport. It's packed with warehouses, distribution centres, factories, food and beverage businesses, packaging plants and logistics companies, with trucks coming and going around the clock.

Every one of those trucks, pallets and deliveries is a way for pests to get in. Large buildings with high roofs, loading bays left open and stock stacked for weeks are ideal for rodents, insects and birds. And for most Isando businesses, pests aren't only a nuisance: they're an audit failure, a rejected consignment or a contaminated batch waiting to happen.

What we control in Isando

Rodents

Rats and mice come in through dock doors, gaps around service pipes and drainage, and in deliveries. Inside, they nest in stacked pallets, behind racking and in wall cavities. We install a ring of numbered, lockable, tamper-resistant bait stations around the outside of the building, traps or monitoring devices inside production and storage areas where bait isn't appropriate, and a station map for your file.

Stored-product insects

Beetles and moths that feed on grain, flour, seeds, nuts, dried food and animal feed can spread through a warehouse quickly. Infested stock has to be found, isolated and dealt with. Where an infestation is heavy, fumigation with registered fumigants may be needed. Our fumigation service page explains when that's the right call and what's involved, including that the sealed area has to stay empty until it's cleared.

Cockroaches

German cockroaches in staff canteens, kitchens and change rooms, and American cockroaches in drains and basements. Gel baits and targeted treatments keep them out of production areas without contaminating surfaces.

Pigeons and other birds

High warehouse roofs, steel beams and loading bay canopies attract pigeons. Their droppings contaminate stock, corrode steel and carry disease, and their nests bring bird mites. We fit netting, spikes and seal gaps to keep them out. See our bird proofing page for the options.

Flies

Refuse areas, food waste and dock doors left open in summer bring flies inside. We treat breeding sites and resting areas, and advise on waste handling.

How a contract works

  1. Site survey. We walk the outside perimeter, dock doors, storage, production, canteen and waste areas, and identify risks.
  2. Programme. A plan setting out station positions, treatment methods and visit frequency, matched to your industry and audit standard.
  3. Scheduled visits. Stations checked, treatments applied, and any activity or proofing issues recorded.
  4. Records. A written report after each visit, with station maps and findings, ready for auditors and clients.

We can work outside production hours or on weekends where that suits you.

Proofing that pays for itself

Most Isando rodent problems come in at ground level. Dock levellers with worn seals, roller doors that don't close fully, gaps around pipes and cables, and drains without covers are the usual entry points. Brush strips on doors, mesh on vents and filling gaps around services cost little compared with damaged stock or a failed audit. We point these out on every visit.

Food, pharma and packaging sites

Businesses that handle food, beverages, medicines or packaging that touches food work to stricter standards. Inside production and storage areas we avoid placing toxic bait, using traps and monitoring devices instead, and keep bait stations to the outside perimeter. Treatments are chosen so they won't contaminate product or packaging. We can also do entomological inspections and pest reports, which help when a client or certifying body asks for evidence that the site is under control.

The mistake that fails audits

Treating bait stations as a box-ticking exercise. Stations that haven't been checked for months, or a station map that doesn't match what's on the wall, will be noticed by any competent auditor. Regular checks with proper records are what protect you.

An Isando tip

Inspect incoming goods before they go into storage, especially pallets of grain, flour or feed, and second-hand pallets. One infested delivery can seed a whole warehouse.

What it costs and why

For commercial sites, cost depends on the size of the building, the number of stations, how often we visit and the audit standard you need to meet. Fumigation depends on the volume to be treated, and bird proofing on the area and height. Guide "from" prices are on our price page, but for warehouses and factories we always quote after a site survey.

We also work across Kempton Park, and our Johannesburg pest control page lists all our commercial and residential services.

Combat Pest Control is owned and operated by Jason van Heerden, who has worked in pest control for 25 years. The business is a SAPCA member and registered with the Department of Agriculture under Act 36 of 1947, responds within 24 hours, and stands behind general treatments with a 3-month guarantee. Call 084 200 2700 to arrange a site survey, or WhatsApp us photos of what you've found.

Questions we get asked

How much does a pest control contract cost for an Isando warehouse?

It depends on the size of the site, the number of stations, visit frequency and your audit standard. We quote after a site survey.

Do you provide records for food-safety and quality audits?

Yes. Every visit is recorded with station checks, findings and treatments, and we provide a station map for your file.

When is fumigation needed?

When stored-product insects have spread through stock or structures and targeted treatment won't reach them. The area must be sealed and vacated until cleared.

Can you work outside production hours?

Yes. We can schedule visits early, after hours or on weekends.

How do you keep pigeons out of a warehouse?

With netting, spikes and sealing gaps in the structure, plus removing nests and droppings.

How quickly can you respond to a problem?

We offer service within 24 hours, which matters when there's an audit coming or stock at risk.
